Established: 1886.
Nickname: The Gunners (Gooners).

Arsenal Football Club

Formed as Dial Square in 1886, by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, the club soon became known as Royal Arsenal and later renamed to Woolwich Arsenal, in 1893.

After Arsenal moved to Highbury, in North London, they dropped 'Woolwich' from their name.
