European Championships
Russia have made two previous appearances at the European Championship
Finals (in 1996 and 2004) although USSR (Soviet Union) appeared in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972,
1988 and 1992 (as CIS).
USSR won the trophy at France 1960; finished runners-up at Spain 1964,
Belgium 1972 and West Germany 1988; and came fourth at Italy 1968.
World Cup Appearences
Russia have made 9 World Cup Finals appearances:
1958, 1962, 1966, 1970, 1982, 1998, 1990, 1994 and 2002.
USSR came fourth in England 1966.
