Brazil vs Chile in Belo Horizonte.
Brazil and Chile have met three times at the World Cup Finals.
The first meeting was in the semi-final at Chile 1962. Brazil won (4:2) with Garrincha and Vava
both scoring twice.
At France 1998, Brazil beat Chile
(4:1), in Paris; where goals from two free-kicks and a penalty,
in the first-half, gave Brazil a comfortable lead before the break.
At South Africa 2010,
Brazil disposed of Chile (3:0) in Ellis Park, Johannesburg.
Brazil edged through to the quarter-finals after being matched by
Chile for most of the match.
Chelsea defender, David Luiz, put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute; after Thiago Silva
headed on Neymar's corner.
Chile were back on level terms, within fifteen minutes, after Vargas and Sanchez combined
to punish a sloppy mistake from Hulk; as he failed to return Marcelo's throw-in.
David Luiz stepped up first, to send Claudio Bravo the wrong way and the Brazilian fans
Julio Cesar saved from substitue Mauricio Pinilla and Alexis Sanchez;
either side of Willian's attempt, that went wide of the target.
Marcelo scored for Brazil (2:0) and Charles Aranguiz finally netted one
for Chile (2:1).
After Claudio Bravo saved Hulk's penalty with his legs, Marcelo Diaz
(2:2) and Neymar (3:2) started to turn up the heat on the pressure cooker.
The tension proved too much for Gonzalo Jara; who hit the post.
