Group Match - Great Second Half

Group G

Travel to Germany Germany vs Travel to Ghana Ghana in Fortaleza.

Match Preview

Germany and Ghana met in the Group Stage of South Africa 2010. Mesut Ozil's goal ensured that both teams progressed; with the group winner to face England.

The only other meeting between Germany and Ghana was a 1993 friendly match, in Bochum, that the Germans won (6:1).

The Match

Nothing to be decided in this group today, but Germany could put themselves in a commanding position.

A change of goalkeeper for Ghana since the last game; Fatau Dauda of the Orlando Pirates coming in instead of Adam Kwarasey.

After a game like Argentina vs Iran, the next offering can seem a little tepid.

Germany struggled to create anything while Ghana tried their luck from distance.

Half-time: Germany 0 - Ghana 0

Goalscorers 1:0
Early in the second-half, Mario Gotze scored for Germany with a face to knee combination; after a perfectly flighted ball from the right, by Thomas Muller.

Goalscorers 1:1
Ghana replied within three minutes to keep their World Cup dreams alive; Andre Ayew rising high above two German defenders to head cleanly past Manuel Neuer.

Goalscorers 1:2
Sulley Muntari slipped the ball through to Asamoah Gyan, who ran behind the defence and flicked in his fifth World Cup goal.

The Ghana players delighted the fans with a celebratory dance routine.

change.gif (94 bytes) Germany made a double substitution to try and lift themselves; Miroslav Klose and Bastian Schweinsteiger on for Mario Gotze and Sami Khedira.

Goalscorers 2:2
Then, with his first touch, substitute Miroslav Klose poached the equaliser off a Benedikt Howedes header; to score a World Cup equalling record of fifteen goals, with the Brazilian Ronaldo.

Neither team seemed content with the draw as the game coninued to flow from end to end; with some great defending to keep the balance even.

Sulley Muntari was needlessly booked in injurey time and will miss Ghana's game against Portugal. If it wasn't for him, there wouldn't have been a booking in the game.

Another great game of football; well, in the second-half.
