England made up for their defeat against Romania to turn the tables on
Colombia. Michael Owen and David Beckham started the last match, with Steve McManaman
replacing Paul Scholes in the final fifteen minutes.
A team to please the fans, and then the Team of God had the chance to
wipe out memories of the hand of God goal in Mexico 1986.
For 75 minutes England were in God's hands after David Beckham was
sent off at the start of the second half. The ten men of England took the game into
extra-time, to eventually exit another major tournament through not scoring all their
penalties.
