After the
knockout rounds and first group stage, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad
& Tobago and United States qualified for the Final Group Stage.
The top three teams of the final group of six
qualify for Germany 2006 with the fourth-placed team entering a play-off place against a nation from Asia.

For the first time since 1934, USA became
the first CONCACAF team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup as they progressed to
Germany 2006 after posting a 2-0 victory over visiting Mexico - on Match Day 7 of the CONCACAF Final Round - at
Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

As expected, Mexico
joined USA in the 2006 World Cup Finals after their 5-0 win against Panama took them to 19
points. Guatemala's failure to beat USA mean that Costa Rica (13pts) only need a draw in
Guatemala (8pts) to be assured of the third-place spot (if Costa Rica lose at home to USA
and Guatemala win in Mexico).
