Poland Leave With a Win

Group A Match

Costa Rica vs Poland
Hannover

Previous Encounters:
Costa Rica and Poland have played each other twice before, with Poland winning both friendly games by two goals; (2:0) on 6th May in America and (4:2) in San Jose.

The Match:
Only pride to play for in this game as Germany and Ecuador have already qualified from Group A.

Paulo Wanchope's first shot of the game was a little ambitious, in the sixth minute.

Maciej Zurawski had a couple of early efforts for Poland but his18th minute free-kick curled over the bar and Jervis Drummond blocked a shot four minutes later.

Costa Rica took the lead in the 24th minute when Ronald Gomez, from a free-kick, blasted the ball through the wall; sheer power.

Poland levelled the score just after the half-hour, as Bartosz Bosacki slipped around the back on a corner; they do care about the result after all.

In the 37th minute, Jervis Drummond almost scored in his own net but Jose Porras got down fast enough enough to stop the ball slipping in at the near post.

Half-time: (1-1).

Maciej Zurawski's World Cup is over as he was replaced by Pawel Brozek at half-time.

Thirty three minutes after his thirty third minute equaliser, Bartosz Bosacki finally put Poland in front; from a Jacek Krzynowek corner.

Substitue Grzegorz Rasiak should have increased Poland's lead near the end but at least they can leave Germany on a winning note.

Final Score:
Costa Rica 1 - Poland 2
